website design digital marketing

The fact is that digital marketing in one form or another, is now playing a big part in attracting new customers and driving growth for many businesses across the globe. For others though, the thought of starting their own digital marketing is a big challenge. How do you know where to begin? – That’s where the digital marketing circle comes in.

[/vc_column_text][vc_separator css_animation=”fadeIn”][vc_custom_heading text=”What is the digital marketing circle?” font_container=”tag:h1|font_size:20|text_align:left” google_fonts=”font_family:Roboto%3A100%2C100italic%2C300%2C300italic%2Cregular%2Citalic%2C500%2C500italic%2C700%2C700italic%2C900%2C900italic|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal” css_animation=”fadeIn”][vc_column_text css_animation=”fadeIn”]Although there are many different versions of a digital marketing circle, what works for one person may not work for another. Generally, though, the digital marketing circle is used to work out the sequence of events that need to take place in order to capture leads which you would then convert into sales. It’s called a circle because once you’ve completed it the first time, you can then go around again but this time learning from your first experience eg. your customers and feeding this information into the next cycle.

However, when researching online, I came across so many different versions of the digital marketing circle – so many, that even I got lost in the many different styles and versions.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”8419″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” onclick=”custom_link” img_link_target=”_blank” css_animation=”flipInX” link=””][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”8420″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” onclick=”custom_link” img_link_target=”_blank” css_animation=”flipInX” link=””][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”8421″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” onclick=”custom_link” img_link_target=”_blank” css_animation=”flipInX” link=””][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css_animation=”fadeIn”]This got me thinking…

If the information available online on how to properly use digital marketing & in what order confuses me – then how do businesses who are trying to start their own digital marketing with no prior knowledge even begin to understand it?![/vc_column_text][vc_separator css_animation=”fadeIn”][vc_custom_heading text=”Is there one right way?” font_container=”tag:h2|font_size:20|text_align:left” google_fonts=”font_family:Roboto%3A100%2C100italic%2C300%2C300italic%2Cregular%2Citalic%2C500%2C500italic%2C700%2C700italic%2C900%2C900italic|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal” css_animation=”fadeIn”][vc_column_text css_animation=”fadeIn”]Straight up – No. There definitely isn’t one right way to do your marketing or work your digital marketing circle. It’s about trial & error – what works for one company may not work for you.

For example, one business may have 100k followers on their instagram which takes traffic to their website which then leads to customers signing up to their newsletter. BUT another business may have great SEO on their website so get a lot of traffic their which then seeps through to their social channels where people message for more information.

The point is that everyone’s best digital marketing circle is different. Another point I’d like to make here is that most businesses will have lots of different digital marketing circles going on all at the same time! After all, you can’t have complete control over what channels your audience are going through to find you unless you’re spending an absolute bomb on advertisements (which again proves my point that everyone’s digital marketing circle is different!)[/vc_column_text][vc_separator css_animation=”fadeIn”][vc_custom_heading text=”Which online areas should you focus on?” font_container=”tag:h2|font_size:20|text_align:left” google_fonts=”font_family:Roboto%3A100%2C100italic%2C300%2C300italic%2Cregular%2Citalic%2C500%2C500italic%2C700%2C700italic%2C900%2C900italic|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal” css_animation=”fadeIn”][vc_column_text css_animation=”fadeIn”]In my opinion (& probably many others) there are 3 main points of focus when it comes to your digital marketing:

-Your website

-Your social media channels

-Your emails

BUT it’s not quite that simple. You need to know how to get your audience to each of these platforms before you can convert them into sales. Ever heard of the golden circle?[/vc_column_text][vc_separator css_animation=”fadeIn”][vc_custom_heading text=”The golden circle” font_container=”tag:h2|font_size:20|text_align:left” google_fonts=”font_family:Roboto%3A100%2C100italic%2C300%2C300italic%2Cregular%2Citalic%2C500%2C500italic%2C700%2C700italic%2C900%2C900italic|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal” css_animation=”fadeIn”][vc_column_text css_animation=”fadeIn”]Simon Sinek explains how to truly differentiate a brand when most fail. Sinek is the author of several books on the topic of leadership. These include ‘Start With Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action’, which first popularized his now-famous Golden Circle concept. You can read more about this model and his background on Start With Why.[/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”″ align=”center” css_animation=”fadeIn”][vc_column_text css_animation=”fadeIn”]Sinek explains that ‘Why’ is probably the most important message that an organization or individual can communicate as this is what inspires others to action. ‘Why’ is how you explain your purpose and the reason you exist and behave as you do. [/vc_column_text][vc_separator css_animation=”fadeIn”][vc_custom_heading text=”Being smart with your digital marketing” font_container=”tag:h2|font_size:20|text_align:left” google_fonts=”font_family:Roboto%3A100%2C100italic%2C300%2C300italic%2Cregular%2Citalic%2C500%2C500italic%2C700%2C700italic%2C900%2C900italic|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal” css_animation=”fadeIn”][vc_column_text css_animation=”fadeIn”]The golden circle should always be applied to the digital marketing circle because there always needs to be a reason why you’re doing any sort of marketing. Whether that’s to get traffic to your website or to get views on a video. Everything you do with your digital marketing should be planned beforehand.

You can easily over complicate any of these methods quickly, so it is important to remember to keep your process and message clear and simple. What is your ‘Why’?

After that, you can plan out your digital marketing circle, which can start and loop at any point you want dependant on your customer journey. And, to be quite honest, there is no magic formula. So, trialing different cycles is going to be very important to ensure you are getting the best engagement to conversion. This journey may also change dependant on the service or product you’re promoting.

For a campaign to get people to read your new blog, here’s a couple of examples of how your digital marketing circle could go:[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css_animation=”fadeIn”]

Social media > Website > Email campaigns > Social media

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”9007″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” onclick=”img_link_large” css_animation=”flipInX”][vc_column_text css_animation=”fadeIn”]

Website > Email campaigns > Social media > Website

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”9008″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” onclick=”img_link_large” css_animation=”flipInX”][vc_column_text css_animation=”fadeIn”]However the customers journey starts, it’s important to remember your ‘Why’ and your message. Because you can take any journey through a company’s online platforms but if the subject matter isn’t engaging then it’s going to be a pretty pointless journey to nowhere![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”Remember to understand the journey” font_container=”tag:h2|font_size:20|text_align:left” google_fonts=”font_family:Roboto%3A100%2C100italic%2C300%2C300italic%2Cregular%2Citalic%2C500%2C500italic%2C700%2C700italic%2C900%2C900italic|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal” css_animation=”fadeIn”][vc_column_text css_animation=”fadeIn”]Just remember that a digital marketing strategy is like supporting football teams, I can tell you until I’m blue in the face that Man Utd is the best team in the world. But many would roll their eyes at that. The point is that every strategy is bespoke and relevant to your business. It’s about understanding that journey and maximising the results through reading the data. [/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=”A rule to live by” font_container=”tag:h2|font_size:20|text_align:left” google_fonts=”font_family:Roboto%3A100%2C100italic%2C300%2C300italic%2Cregular%2Citalic%2C500%2C500italic%2C700%2C700italic%2C900%2C900italic|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal” css_animation=”fadeIn”][vc_column_text css_animation=”fadeIn”]See below a very helpful diagram that we use to plan & implement all of our campaigns.
