With an increasing amount of video marketing taking over our timelines. Facebook have named it ‘The video first world’ and are predicting that videography will take over the whole social media landscape in the near future.

Forward thinking in the market place

What are we making videos about though? Are we being forward thinking enough and making the most engaging media we possibly can? Are we making sure the videos we create are getting the correct responses from our target market? 

It’s been proved that 64% of consumers say that by watching a marketing video on Facebook, they’ve been influenced into making a purchasing decision.

I too have also been influenced countless times into making a purchasing decision through video marketing. But which element of the video was it that gripped me? Was it a huge emphasis on discounted products? Well, actually no it wasn’t! Not for me anyway, that stuff bores me senseless and i would be swiping past that to watch a baby covered in peanut butter from head to toe with the cat attempting to lick it clean! I demand a lot more from brands than just a video about a deal they’re doing in order to actually buy something.

The emotional connection

I want to know about their company culture, what they stand for and who are the hardworking people behind their branding and offers. This is what I want to connect with. I want to know who the epic team members are that drive the business forward. 

I’ve always been super passionate about telling the stories of hardworking people and the faces behind the business. However, the video marketing discount battle continues and leaves so many businesses only keeping their doors open by pulling their pants down day after day, rather than taking the profit they deserve! If you’re a business reading this, think about your next marketing video. Let people know how passionate you are, how hard you work, how epic your product or service is, and how outstanding your staff are! If you tell that story, customers are much more likely to spend money with you and better than that – continue to spend money with you rather than making a quick saving!
